GENERAL INFORMATION

What is STEAM?

STEAM education  is an approach to integrated learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking. STEAM empowers students to be curious learners  who seek creative solutions to real-world problems and to learn the hard and soft skills necessary to succeed in college, careers or wherever life takes them. STEAM is important in education because of the rapid pace of innovation and the need for youth to develop strong problem-solving, design and critical thinking skills.

What is STEAM4kidz?

STEAM4Kidz is a subscription service featuring STEAM academic enrichment kits for ages 6-12 at-home learners. Sold online and attractively packaged, STEAM Kits are theme-based educational programs and include all materials, dynamic instructional videos, and fun, career-related projects in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math (STEAM).

What is in a kit?

STEAM4Kidz kits are theme-based with curated selections of STEAM related experiments, projects, and activities, plus links to teacher-led online video instruction. Each kit includes all materials, tools and supplies needed for each project. For more information about our kits and their contents, visit our Learn More page.

How do I purchase kits?

Kits are available via monthly 1, 3, 6 month subscriptions. Some kits can also be purchased individually in our online store.

How much is shipping?

USA: Free for subscriptions and a $12 flat fee for any of our individual boxes.
Canada: $12.50 per box.
All prices are in USD.
Return/Refund and Things of Note to remember when deciding to order a STEAM4Kidz subscription/gift:

  • If your account has renewed (your card has been charged) and you do not wish to receive the box (s) that you’ve paid for, please contact support@steam4kidz.com as soon as possible to let us know. We are happy to give refunds for unshipped boxes, but once a box has shipped, we cannot give refunds.
  • We do not offer refunds if you receive an item that you aren’t interested in. We hope you have a friend whom you can gift the item to!
  • Keep an eye on our social media accounts, as well as our newsletter, where we always announce upcoming themes and give hints as to what you can expect from each box. This way you can decide whether or not to skip a box if it doesn’t interest you.
  • We cannot accept returns, regardless of whether the box has been opened or not.
  • If you receive a damaged item, please send us a photo of the damage to support@steam4kidz.com and we will be happy to ship you a replacement!

How are projects selected for kits?

Dr. Onolee Zwicke, our head of instruction and kit development, works with our instruction team to select the best projects to include each kit. As experienced educators with many years of camp and course development, Dr. Zwicke and her team spend many hours researching upcoming S4K kits, developing and choosing the highest quality projects, experiments, and equipment for each monthly kit.

How do I get access to the instruction videos?

Each kit contains a Quick Start Guide with the Vimeo link and password needed to access online instruction. Students will need a computer and access to the internet for teacher-led instruction of all projects.

Can I get a refund or return my kit?

  • We cannot accept returns once shipped, regardless of whether the box has been opened or not.

Do I need a subscription?

While a subscription is not required to purchase a kit, we encourage you to give your child the gift of a fun-filled SURPRISE that arrives every month…embrace their sense of adventure with a subscription!

Can I purchase individual kits?

Yes. Some kits are available to be purchased individually. Visit our Store to see our selection.

How much does a subscription cost?

There are three different plans to choose from. Month-to-month, 3-Month, and 6-Month  plans. All 3 and 6 month plans provide significant discounts to the per-kit costs and are all charged in advance.

What happens when I start my subscription?

When you begin a subscription, you have a choice of either Starry Night, Galactic Adventures or Fantasy Aliens on Planet Kepzoo, which includes a tool kit that students will use in all subsequent kits. After the first month, the box themes change according to our schedule of available kits. Shipping is free when you purchase a monthly subscription.

How do I log into my account?

You can always log into your account by clicking the “SIGN IN” button in the upper right hand of the page.

I can’t log into my account, what do I do?

If you are having trouble logging into your account, it could be because there is a typo in the email address attached to your account. This is quite common.
