About Us

Our Story

At STEAM4Kidz, our journey is to inspire children to be design thinkers and problem solvers of the future. Co-founder and Program Developer, Dr. Onolee Zwicke, has a doctorate in education and over 25 years of experience teaching and designing K-8 academic, afterschool and summer camp programs.

Dr. Zwicke oversees every aspect of our curriculum and considers both parent aspirations/concerns and children’s learning desires while striving to make each of our program kits fun, educational and relevant.

She is the Founder/Owner of Art Explorers & Terrific Scientific, two companies that provide STEAM classes & camps for elementary and junior high school age students in Santa Barbara, CA. In addition, Dr. Zwicke was the Director of Staff Development & Training at the University of California, Santa Barbara for 12 years.

Our Curriculum

Our STEAM curriculum is inquiry based, developed by a team of educators and professionals in their field, “kid-tested” to ensure that our kits are fun, have a track record of being successful and create a learning environment rich with experiences that encourage curiosity, stimulate thinking, and provoke questions!!

Our monthly STEAM Kits are filled with dynamic lessons and career-related projects that teach kids about Art & Design, Astronomy, Archaeology, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Forensics, Literature, Medicine, Oceanography, Paleontology, Technology, and lots more…

We are unique in providing teacher-led videos on the kit THEME as well as videos for creating each project all designed for a child’s self-paced, independent learning. This methodology allows kids to progress at their own pace, meet the learning objectives for that kit and give parents a break.

STEAM4Kidz’s philosophy is to inspire children to be design thinkers and problem solvers of the future through integrated learning in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math. Our curriculum content aligns with the National Standards for education, bringing hands-on, minds-on enrichment and learning into your home.

In our STEAM programs, students learn the fundamentals of design thinking: be curious, ask questions, think outside the box, discover what you don’t know, try out new things, innovate, solve problems, and evaluate results.

When a project is finished, parents or caregivers are encouraged to participate in the Critical Thinking Process  by asking their child questions about the process and not just the end result. Each project card has sample questions and discussion prompts that you can use. We hope you enjoy learning with your child!

Our Instructors

Our team of professionals are comprised of teachers, engineers, artists, graduate and undergraduate college students in the departments of education, science, engineering, art, medicine, computer science and math. Our top priority is to have instructors who LOVE working with kids, are smart, and can communicate effectively with children.

Each STEAM Kit

  • Art, Sewing, Culinary or Nature Craft projects
  • Materials and supplies for all activities
